"It is not falling off the wagon that will make us fail, it is staying off. I used to be the type that would allow a slip (cheat, eating off-plan, etc et al) to completely turn into being off my plan. We all have the occasional unplanned eating moment. Accept it, account for it and get back on plan!
Really take time to think about eating and not just do it mindlessly. Overeating rarely has anything to do with food. When we find we are eating too much, it is helpful to try to understand what is eating at us too much.
I also used to be the type to clean my plate...can't you hear your parents voice now, "there are starving children in __________ (insert country here)". I finally undertand that throwing it away is an option...either it will go to waste, or it will go to waist, and I know which garbage is easier to take out!!"
